Pretty annoying thing to happen but…there’s a solution! With the new changes to Windows 10 and 11, I maybe screwed up something or maybe they did. When I tried to insert a simple headphone in my laptop’s headphone jack, it kept appearing as a microphone and didn’t work. Somehow the drivers got screwed up. All you need to do is uninstall the driver.
That can be tricky if you’re looking for a solution online. My solution worked. Press the Start key type „sound mixer options„. In the right side choose System – Sound. You should see the image as above this post. Choose More sound settings. And there you go! You found the place where you can uninstall the driver for your Headphones. Right click – Properties – Driver and Uninstall it. It will ask to restart. Restart system and then plug your headphones again. It will ask you what you plugged in and you choose Headphones and it will work.
